Challenge

SCAN Health, a Medicare Advantage insurance company, needed a partner to reimagine their public-facing website. Their goals included creating a modern, accessible experience that supported a new brand identity, while also addressing a critical need: a multi-state plan finder tailored to their senior audience.

Approach

I led the experience strategy and design effort, beginning with user interviews to understand SCAN’s members and uncover pain points in the existing site. Through this research, I built trust with stakeholders and guided them toward adopting user-centered experience recommendations.

Geolocation strategy

Instead of forcing visitors to choose a state up front and locking them into siloed content, we designed an experience where users could explore general information first and then self-identify their location when ready. This not only improved usability but also allowed SCAN to deliver centralized content that was accessible to all users and more discoverable by search engines.

Re-Architecture & Navigation Design

Key tools such as the navigation, plan finder, and provider search required a full overhaul. I directed discovery activities, collaborated on prototype testing, and led a design team in wireframing and visual redesign. The outcome was a streamlined, intuitive, and engaging site that better supports seniors in finding the right care options.

Impact

The redesigned site provides a cohesive brand experience, simplifies navigation, and makes critical tools more accessible. For SCAN’s members, this means less friction and greater confidence in finding the right plan. For SCAN, this means a scalable digital foundation that can grow with their evolving business.
